I quattro album che compongono la discografia di Mick Jagger sicuramente non hanno fatto la storia del Rock, anzi sono passati quasi senza essere notati. “The Very Best” comprende dieci brani tratti da questi lavori, una canzone viene dalla colonna sonora del remake del film "Alfie" scritta ed incisa con Dave Stewart nel 2004, tre pezzi già pubblicati in alte occasioni e tre inediti. Proprio da questi ultimi arrivano alcune sorprese, come “Too Many Cooks (Spoil The Soup)” incisa nel 1973 a Los Angeles con Al Kooper (tastiere), Jack Bruce (basso) e niente meno che John Lennon alla produzione. Altro brano inedito “Charmed Life” con la prima figlia Karis, avuta da una relazione con Marsha Hunt, ma il più interessante è “Checkin’ Up On My Baby”, cover di Sonny Boy Williamson, incisa con i Red Devils. “The Very Best Of Mick Jagger” è un album per chi vuole conoscere la carriera solista del leader delle Pietre Rotolanti o per chi non vuole perdersi i tre inediti. Oltre al CD è presente anche un DVD con intervista, video di alcuni brani e una esibizioni dal vivo. (Andrea Vincenti)
