Evidentemente Sufjan ha deciso di lasciare momentaneamente perdere il suo ambizioso progetto “50 dischi per 50 stati (americani)”, nonostante abbia finora immortalato solo Michigan e Illinois. E dal momento che non è tipo da prendersi una vacanza ha riempito il buco con questo cofanetto natalizio: 5 EP (registrati annualmente a partire dal 2001), adesivi, filmati, racconti e strenne assortite. Quello che non cambia è il momento assai felice di Stevens, una delle penne “indipendenti” più ispirate e personali in circolazione. Affronta qui senza paura, nel generoso menù di 54 canzoni, ogni standard festivo noto e meno noto, da Jingle Bells a Bianco Natale, aggiungendo per buona misura una manciata di ottimi inediti; e l’insieme non suona irritante o zuccheroso.
